FAQs – Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)

Dec. 7-23, 2018.  Fridays and Saturdays, 7:30 PM.  Sundays, 2:30 PM.

Is it appropriate for all ages?

There are a few racy references in the play (that you wouldn’t see in a Popcorn Hat show), but yes, we feel it is appropriate for ages 7 and up.  (5 and 6 year olds could handle it pending maturity level and ability to sit for an extended time.  Act I runs long and Act II is super short.)  Adults will find it funnier than small children will, but yes, children accompanied by parents/guardians are welcome. For young children, check out Popcorn Hat Players production of The Steadfast Tin Soldier.

What time should I arrive for the show?

We recommend arriving 45-30 minutes early. We will have guest singers performing pre-show“Cabaret Carols” in the Capital Blue Cross Lobby.

Guests include:

Dec. 7 – Opening night: Shine Delphi (www.shinedelphi.com)

Dec. 8 – David Ramón Zayas

Dec. 9 – Robert Campbell

Dec. 14 – Tara Herweg-Mann

Dec. 15 – David Ramón Zayas

Dec. 16 – Robert Campbell

Dec. 21 – Alexis Campbell

Dec. 22 – Gabriella DeCarli

Dec. 23 – Amber Mann

I don’t celebrate Christmas/I’m Jewish/I’m not religious.  Will I enjoy it?

Yes!  Even if you don’t know anything about Christmas, the play is still funny.  It spoofs a lot of pop culture that everyone is familiar with.

Will the bar be open?

Yes.  Peggy’s Pub will open at 6:30 PM (1:30 PM Sundays), and there are lots of refreshments (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) for sale as well as snacks and gourmet cookies.  Our signature drink is “Cuppa Christmas Cheer!” - a mulled apple cider that you can enjoy as is or spiked with rum.

How much does it cost to park/where should I park?

Street parking is free after 5:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and free all day on Sundays.  “State Employee Only” parking spots (located on Commonwealth and around the Capitol complex) are also free and open to the public on evenings and weekends.  There are also several downtown parking garages, but they can be pricey.  We recommend arriving early!  Box Office opens at 6:30 PM, and we will have guest singers in the Capital Blue Cross lobby starting at 7:00 PM (2:00 PM Sundays) for your additional entertainment.

Is there an Opening Night Reception?

Yes. Normally, an extra ticket is required to be purchased to attend the Opening Night Reception (to cover costs of food, wine, and beer.) As a Christmas present from Gamut, ALL opening night ticket holders are invited to attend the Opening Night Reception for FREE, and there will be a Cash Bar featuring “Santa’s Happy Hour” – half price drinks on all wine, beer, and liquor. The reception takes place after the performance in the Capital Blue Cross lobby.

What’s the runtime on the show?

We estimate it will be over around 9:40 (4:40 Sundays).  That includes a 15-minute intermission.  Act I runs long and Act II is super short.  There is an element of improv in the show, so runtimes vary slightly.

How much are tickets for my children?

Gamut Theatre mainstage shows are $15 each for students of all ages (Students over 18 must present student ID).  General admission tickets are $30.  Seniors and Military (with ID): $25.

I want to bring a group.  Are there discounts?

Yes.  A group of 20 or more can enjoy a discounted ticket price of $20 each.  Groups of 10-19: $25 tickets.  To receive the discount, the group must pay a 50% deposit and pay the balance with one payment upon arrival.  To arrange a group reservation, contact our Resident Theatre Manager at 717.238.4111 or gamut.rtm@gmail.com.
