Auditions: Hear the Voice, Be the Verse

  • Gamut Theatre 15 North 4th Street Harrisburg, PA, 17101 United States (map)

Gamut Theatre Group will be holding auditions for their Stage Door Series production of “Hear the Voice, Be The Verse: A Poetry Anthology for the Stage”. This production is a one-act, original adaptation of classical verse poetry. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at Gamut Classic Theatre, at 15 N. 4th St., Harrisburg.

This performance is part of Gamut Theatre’s Stage Door Series,
Performance dates will be December 11 – December 12, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

Hear the Voice, Be the Verse includes works by William Blake, Lord Byron, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Shakespeare, Emily Bronte, Rudyard Kipling, and many others. The piece is adapted by Frank Henley, who has been seen on stage in Harrisburg Shakespeare Company performances of MACBETH, KING JOHN, THE LION IN WINTER and as the title role in OTHELLO.

We are currently casting five actors: three males and two females, or vice versa, depending on the actor. Age, race and body type is of no consequence. What we are looking for are actors with a strong, clear voice and impeccable diction, the ability to analyze the text and create unique characterizations and a forceful enough presence to hold the stage and audience alone.

We ask all actors attending the auditions to prepare a recitation (without book) 1-2 minutes long from a rhymed verse poem, preferably classical in nature. There will be callbacks the same evening.

Auditions will be held Nov. 11, 2015 at 7pm at the New Gamut Theatre. Please call (717) 343-8311 after 5pm to schedule your audition. No walk-ins will be accepted.
