Gamut Theatre Academy

We here at Gamut Theatre are extremely excited about our curriculum for young actors. Classes are organized by content. This means that no matter how old you are or how much experience you have we have a class for you!

Our goal is to enhance communication skills and develop self-confidence, imagination, and creativity. In doing so, we educate the student on a general knowledge of the theatre while having lots of fun! All Gamut Theatre Academy classes are held at Gamut Theatre in downtown Harrisburg and are instructed by professional actors and the Core Company of Gamut Theatre Group. 

Gamut offers Spring Theatre School Classes from January through April, and Fall Theatre School classes from September through December. All classes culminate with a production performed by the students. Students must be available for final dress rehearsals and performance dates. 

Available Classes

Theatre Basics is a class for those first starting out in Theatre! No prior experience required. Theatre Basics is offered Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 9:30 - 10:30 AM.

Acting I is a class for those with basic performance skills. Students of this class have likely gone through Theatre Basics and/or understand the fundamentals of theatre. Students must be at least 8 years old or entering 2nd grade to be considered for Acting I. Acting I meets Tuesdays 5:30 - 6:30 PM and Saturdays 10:45 - 11:45 AM.

Acting II is a class for those with advanced performance skills. Students of this class have completed Acting I and shown a proficiency in all aspects of theatre. They must be recommended by their Acting I teacher to advance into Acting II. Acting II meets Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:00 PM.

Performance Class is an invite-only class for students who embody a professional theatre work ethic and a maturity level consistent with Gamut Theatre’s professional actors. Performance Class meets Thursdays at 6:00 PM.

Fall Classes Final Performances:

• Acting I, Tuesday A - December 2, 2025 at 6:00 PM

• Acting I, Tuesday B - December 2, 2025 at 7:00 PM

• Acting II, Tuesday - December 2, 2025 at 8:00 PM

• Theatre Basics, Thursday - December 4, 2025 at 5:30 PM

• Theatre Basics, Saturday - December 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM

• Acting I, Saturday - December 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM

Classes begin the week of September 8, 2025.  Classes meet once a week for one hour, with the exception of Performance Class.

All classes are $270/semester, with the exception of Performance Class which is $290. You may choose to pay in full upfront or pay a 50% deposit to secure your spot in class. Please note, class size is limited, and classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Your registration is not complete until a minimum 50% deposit is received by the theatre.

There are 2 steps to enroll in the Gamut Theatre Academy:

STEP 1 – REGISTER FOR CLASS

Use the link below to register.  After you have submitted your registration, please keep an eye on the email you used to register for class.  You will receive a personal confirmation email in 1-3 business days from our Resident Theatre Manager. If you do not, please call Gamut Theatre at 717-238-4111.

STEP 2 – PAY FOR CLASS

If you choose to pay via credit card, you will receive a payment link in your registration confirmation email.  If you choose to mail-in or drop-off a check, you may do so at your earliest convenience. All checks can be made payable to Gamut Theatre, located at 15 N 4th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101.

CANCELLATION POLICY: If a registered student is unable to attend Gamut Theatre Academy, you must notify the Resident Theatre Manager immediately in order to get a credit to Gamut Theatre. You can contact the Resident Theatre Manager at gtg.education.register@gmail.com.

ALL DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. TUITION MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.
